In the latest two-week reports, George Williamson and Gary Butler together raised nearly three times as much as the incumbents they face. Their campaigns also reported substantially more spending.

Spending widened the contrast. The challengers’ city campaigns reported $6,235.84 in G‑4 expenditures, compared with $669.33 for the incumbents. Butler alone reported $4,751.90, while Denton reported $48.10. The four campaigns also reported $2,567.88 in in-kind support during G‑4; that value is excluded from the monetary-contribution comparison above.

The latest candidate-account records tell a different geographic story from Protect Local Power’s reporting on three larger candidate-named state committees. The newly itemized Council contributions generally list Punta Gorda or Port Charlotte addresses. One Butler entry has an incomplete city line but gives a 33950 ZIP code. These city figures do not support a claim that most Council candidate money came from outside the community.

The next reports may change the gaps. For now, the four signed G‑4 filings offer a clear snapshot: the challengers raised more in both contests and their city campaigns spent much more in this two-week period, while other committees operated through distinct accounts.

Calculations compare each candidate’s G‑4 totals with the prior G‑3 cumulative totals, where applicable. The reporting cutoff is October 2, 2026. In-kind support and committee accounts are kept separate. No newer city report was visible in the filing index when checked October 12; later reports or amendments may change these numbers.
